Passionate Professional Personal
My name is Paul and I am a Person Centered Counsellor, CBT & IPT therapist. I also offer trauma therapies - CBT, EMDR and Brainspotting.
I am an accredited member of the BACP.

I would list my specialist areas as trauma (PTSD), Depression and Anxiety (General, OCD)

I am an approachable, enthusiastic, and passionate about what I do. I am a warm, genuine, real and non-judgmental person which are the essential attributes needed when counselling. I form bonds and rapports with both individual and couples quite easily and I help people help themselves move forward in their lives on a regular basis.

Though trained in various modalities, I do not stick to one specific method, as in my experience therapy needs to be two way (you also know what’s best for you), it’s best if somehow we can meet in the middle, and this is something we will negotiate along the way.

As a counsellor I believe that the healing is in the relationship, and I therefore support individuals to develop and grow whilst providing them with a safe, relaxed and confidential space in which they can look at presenting problems which they are finding it challenging to manage.

I work with individuals (aged 14+) & couples.
Multi model Approach
Matched to your need - not a default
Need help to move forward in life? I use an array of counselling and coaching skills to provide an holistic approach that give you the tools for success. Working delicately and confidentiality with what you bring, you will be treated with respect and empathy. I don't believe in a one size fits all approach to therapy, your counselling will be as individual are you are.

Some of the approaches I use are below.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Changing your thinking to master your life
Humanistic Counselling (Person Centred and IPT)

So what exactly are some of the things I offer ?
A brief overview for you
Counselling
Counselling aims to help people deal with and overcome issues that are causing emotional and psychological pain and distress. The impact of these difficulties can be significant in the short term and long term if not addressed. Thus impacting the individual’s ability to relate to themselves, others and the world we live in.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems.
BrainSpotting
Brainspotting (BSP) is a new treatment approach which works by identifying, processing, and releasing stored negative or traumatic experiences from the brain to help affected individuals heal from within. It also promotes healing for individuals suffering from physical pain.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) is a structured therapy for people with moderate to severe depression. A central idea in IPT is that psychological symptoms, such as depressed mood, can be understood as a response to current difficulties in our everyday interactions with others.
EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference.
